Prince Eyitayo Olanrewaju Adegun (aka “Kabiyesi”) is the Crew Chief at L A T V Productions. A television and video production consortium company founded in 1975.
He joined the first television station in Africa, Western Nigeria Television (WNTV) Ibadan, Nigeria – now Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) – in the 1970s, where he trained and worked as Floor Manager, Soundman, Previewing Officer, Cameraman, Editor, Producer, and Director.As a certified Cinema Director, Producer, and Broadcast Journalist, ‘Lanre has written, produced, and directed many movies and documentaries. One of such productions is a digital feature film shot in the UK and titled “Secrets” starring Wil Johnson, Chrystal Rose, and Jibola Dabo. ”Secrets” is claimed to probably be the first feature film directed by a Nigerian to be classified by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) UK for theatrical exhibition.
The Crew Chief has academic qualifications – in his areas of professional expertise – including Communication Studies, Public Relations, and LLB in Entertainment and Media Law with Honours. Prince Adegun is a multitalented producer, director, cameraman, photographer, broadcaster, presenter, masters of ceremony, actor, teacher, mentor and scriptwriter. He was the first Chairman, Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) (UK & Ireland) Elders’ Council, and former Director, News and Current Affairs of a Community radio station in the UK. He worked as independent Media Consultant with the Lagos State Government and also TV.
He has received numerous awards including “NTA Best Cameraman” in 1979/80. He was the first recipient of this award. He is also a member of numerous organisations in the UK including National Union of Journalists (UK), Royal Television Society (RTS), Amnesty International, Chatham House, Directors’ Guild of Great Britain (DGGB), and the largest broadcast union in the world: Broadcasting, Entertainment, Cinematograph and Theatre Union (BECTU).
